SETTINGS GUIDE · PERFORMANCE AND DIFFICULTY
The Blood of Dawnwalker best settings and difficulty
Use a stable, readable setup first, then tune visuals and difficulty after the prologue. This guide routes PC, PS5 and Xbox players to the right performance and controller fixes.

Pick the normal/default difficulty for a first run, prioritize stable frame rate over maximum visuals, and fix controller movement before changing combat difficulty. On console, use performance mode when available if responsiveness matters more than image quality.
Best first-playthrough setup
DifficultyStart on default/normal, then adjust after you understand healing and boss timing.
Frame ratePrefer the mode with steadier input response for parries, dodges and night movement.
BrightnessRaise only enough to read dark interiors without washing out enemy silhouettes.
ControlsFix sensitivity, drift or diagonal slowdown before assuming combat is too hard.
PC settings priority
- Meet the baseline first: use the PC requirements checker.
- Install current patches: some performance issues belong in patch notes, not graphics menus.
- Stabilize frame rate: lower expensive visual options before changing combat difficulty.
- Check controller behavior: use the controller fix if movement changes when turning.
Console settings priority
| Player priority | Recommended setting |
|---|---|
| Boss fights and parry timing | Performance mode when available. |
| Visual quality and screenshots | Quality or balanced mode if frame pacing feels acceptable. |
| PS5 controller mapping | Check current known issues before relying on remapping. |
| Unclear mode behavior | Use console performance before buying or replaying. |
Difficulty advice without spoilers
Difficulty is a feel question until the game exposes your build, healing and enemy timing. If the prologue feels punishing, solve settings, controller and healing knowledge first. If it feels too easy after your gear route comes online, increase difficulty before a long quest chain rather than during a boss attempt.
